Students to Visit NASA October 2010

Four lucky students have been selected to visit NASA during October 2010

On Tuesday 19th October 2009 a group of 4 students from Callington are to visit the Johnson Space Centre in Texas and the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.

They will spend time meeting and talking to the astronauts, engineers and doctors who are at the cutting edge of their professions, hopefully to develop an understanding of the places that a career in the sciences and Maths can take them.

During their 12 days in the USA, the students will:

  • take part in a simulated mission
  • visit behind the scenes at the Astronaut training facilities
  • try out some astronaut training equipment.
  • watch the launch of the latest Rocket developed the Ares 1-X
  • visit the Lockheed Martin development lab at Johnson, which is building the new Orion Space Capsule
  • work with the students of Cocoa Beach High
  • watch the opening match of the Orlando Magic NBA match
  • and much more
