A £300 cheque from Tesco's was handed over this week to Callington Space Centre's "Send A Student To NASA" appeal. "The donation from Tesco is really appreciated," said Space Centre director Mike Grocott.
"It will go towards the central fund that the 8 sixth form students are raising for a place on this life changing trip. All the students are involved in a selection process to win a place on the trip, the process develops lots of skills, which Tesco recognise as being important in developing in young people today.
"During the two weeks away the students will meet and work with engineers and scientists at the cutting edge of their professions."
Alan Woollcombe, community champion for Tesco Callington, said: "The students at the Space Centre have always worked hard to raise funds for these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities at NASA, and have packed bags on several occasions in our store.
"We are over the moon to be able to help more of them get off the ground this year."
