In early June Amber Gell from Lockheed Martin, Houston will be visiting the Callington Space Centre. Amber is a NASA Explorer, one of the new generation of engineers who is building the Orion Space Craft. Orion will be the crew vehicle that replaces the current space shuttle. Orion is designed to transport crews to the International Space Station and then in the coming years onto the Moon.
Amber will be meeting many different students from the college and other local schools. The Space Centre is organising for engineering students from Liskeard and Cornwall College as well as Callington to come to the College's CHiiL centre and listen to this inspirational speaker.
Amber will also be meeting year 10 and 12 girls who are studying the sciences and Maths, at Saltash College, St Joseph's School, Launceston and Callington Community College.
St Ives School have organised an event in conjunction wirth Cornwall College for their Talented and Gifted students to meet with Amber.
Amber's visit will culminate in the official launch of the College's new CHiil Centre, a hub for the community to become involved with the international world through video conferencing as well as being a centre for Innovation and lifelong learning.
