Lockheed Martin USA meets Lockheed Martin UK

Lockheed Martin UK supports the visit of Rocket Scientist Amber Gell from the Space Division of Lockheed Martin Houston

Thursday evening saw Amber Gell Docking Risk Integrator for the Orion Space Capsule being joined by Mike Hayes, Merlin Systems simulator engineer from the Lockheed Martin team at Culdrose Cornwall. The two engineers where talking to an audience of over 70 students and members of the public on the work that they do. Mike told the audience how he was born locally and that he never thought that he couuld have such an exciting job in Cornwall, but thanks to Lockheed Martin he was working in his home county on cutting edge systems. This was important for the students to realise that just because they live in Cornwall it does not mean they cannot pursue careers in the field of engineering.

Mike and Amber went on to share with the audience the work that their companies did, Lockheed Martin in the USA developing the future space craft that will return mankind to the moon and beyond, Lockheed Martin UK developing the Merlin Helicopter as well as being responsible for the air traffic controll systems for the UK.

A fascinating evening warmly recieved.
