Overview

We aim to create a multi-purpose learning environment available to the whole community.  

The Callington Space Centre aims to:

  • Be a local, and national, teaching resource
  • Contribute to space education for all
  • Provide a venue for presentations by NASA and scientists, technologists and astronauts
  • Provide resources for research, exhibitions, and conferences, including video conferencing
  • House an observatory for use by professional and amateur astronomers
  • Facilitate hands-on experience of new technologies
  • Develop sport related training programs for the public using techniques developed by NASA
  • Provide an exciting and different learning environment for the 21st Century, that will help develop in students the skills and desire to work with technology in future careers.
  • To provide Higher Education establishments with Deep Space research facilities.
  • To develop an In-Service Training Centre for the South West, for the development and sharing of good practice
  • To allow the general Public to observe lessons and interact with college students.
  • To provide a centre for Primary Schools to experience a quality Space/Astronomy program.
  • Provide a facility for Local business as conference/ product launch centre.
  • To give the community a centre for Local Astronomy/Radio/Satellite groups.
  • Bring people into the South West for residential courses throughout the year.
  • To allow the development of a Robotics/computing program at the college.
