Thanks once again to Clive for delivering the workshops to the children in our cluster. The presentation evening demonstrated the value of these days as the standard of the children's presentations was phenomenal. Thanks also to Lisa for co-ordinating the sessions. Your work enables our children to challenge themselves and achieve at such high levels in areas we cannot normally provide for. best wishes louise

Space Day was a great success on Thursday 4th November! Clive Purchase, an astronomer from Callington Space Centre, provided Year 5 and 6 with a day of stars and galaxies. The made a planisphere which they could then use at home to find the constellations which can be seen in the night sky throughout the year. They were given a taste of astronomy and space science in order to increase their awareness of the universe in which we live and to enrich their learning experience. By Adele Searle Extended Learning Coordinator On Thursday 4th November we had a kind gentleman who came from Callington Space Centre. He came in to teach Year 5 and 6 all about the universe and how stars and planets formed and died and also what they do. We all had a lot of fun doing various activities including making a planisphere and completing a booklet about space. We all had a fabulous day and were all extremely inspired. I was very sad when it came to the end of the day for it was an amazing experience and I cannot wait for the next time he comes! By Izzy Knott 6RR We learnt about a lot of incredible, amazing things. We learnt the names of galaxies and how many stars you could see without a telescope. The answer to that question is 3,000 and there are 88 constellations. We made a star chart and I definitely did not get bored. I learnt too many facts in less than one day, more than I can fit inside my head. I LOVED IT! By Christina Dunn

21st June 2010 I have just completed a GCSE Astronomy Course run at the Cllington School Space Centre. Very enjoyable if at times taxing but just the course for us amateur astronomers. My thanks to Clive for his lucid and very encouraging tuition. It’s probably the best activity that I could have got involved in. I have made a lot of friends with the same interests and had some unforgettable evenings. I recommend it to anyone interested in astronomy. I am very impressed with the whole Space Centre set up too. The work of the staff and their enthusiasm does much to foster the interest in astronomy in Devon and Cornwall and elsewhere in the country. I would also recommend to amateur astronomers the Callington Community Astronomy Group, which meets monthly at the Space Centre. My thanks to Mike, Lisa and Clive

Another great evening put on by The Space Centre. Amber Gell is a good speaker and a great inspiration, wish I had been able to go to a school like Callington when I was younger! Thanks to all at the Space Centre for their hard work for Astronomy and putting on such great talks! Julia

Congratulations, Mike, on your selection as one of 4 ESA (the European Space Agency)"space champions" for England. This is a just reward for all your efforts in the last ten years promoting science education through the use of space as a context - well done!

Hello Mike and all the wonderful Callington Space Centre team I am currently doing research in computer science education in the USA and will be judging at the Maryland state FIRST LEGO League this weekend. This brings back a lot of memories and I should say that it was a privilege to work with you. The students from our project are studying at universities now, but they still remember their unforgettable experience at the Callington Space Centre. I was looking through the photos trying to recognise their team-mates from the UK. Please pass my best regards to all our friends there. I wish you all a very productive and prosperous new year ahead full of exciting and joyful moments.

Hi Mike, Clive & Lisa. Thanks very much for a great weekend residential. We really enjoyed it and learnt a lot. You helped us achieve our 'Astronomers Badge' and in general helped us understand constellations and the planets. Hope to see you again. Rob, Nathan, Morgan & the scouts!!!

Just a quick thank you to everyone at the space centre. The hard work by everyone involved meant I learnt of a whole world of options I just thought would never be available to me. I see my cohort, Rich Veal, also left a message. It was truly an amazing trip.
